Why The Queer Freedom School?

The Queer Freedom School (QFS) is an organizing hub for self-sufficiency, resilience, and a deep-rooted connection to the land. We support Queer, Trans and Nonbinary folks of color through skill-building in the trades, mutual aid efforts and survival skills. At the heart of our work is the restoration of ancestral relationships with the earth. By reclaiming land-based knowledge and technical skills, we equip ourselves and our communities with the tools to build sustainable futures, strengthen mutual aid networks, and create community-led solutions for housing, safety, and well-being.

The Results You'll Get

Our community and courses are pretty amazing. Our goal is to connect folks around the country working on land projects, those looking to build their skills in preparedness and emergency community response as well as those looking to get hands on training in the trades.

Here are a few of the things you’ll be able to do as a member of the Queer Freedom School:

  • Build hands-on/virtual trade skills with other folks looking to build radical solutions in unapologetically Queer & Trans ways--centering racial and gender justice. Join a vibrant community that will support your learning journey.
  • Strengthen your understanding of how mutual aid networks transform communities, exchanging resources and care with QTNB folks in your community.
  • Reclaim ancestral land wisdom, applying it to create safer housing, food security, and everyday resilience.
